At InspectiMark (by Inspectigence, “we/us/our”), we respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your choices when you use the InspectiMark app.
1) Who we are & scope
This policy applies to the InspectiMark mobile app and related processing performed by Inspectigence (Netherlands). If you have questions, contact info@inspectigence.com.
2) Data we collect
We collect only what’s needed to map road conditions and improve road safety.
- Recorded videos (user-generated content). Videos of the roadway and road assets. Stored locally until you choose to upload.
- Location (GPS). Used to geo-reference videos and observations to specific road sections. Not used to track individuals.
- Accelerometer (motion) signals. New in this version. Used to estimate surface roughness and detect potholes/unevenness. Processed together with video and GPS to assess road condition.
- Optional audio. By default, videos are recorded without sound. If you enable the microphone, audio is captured.
- Contact details (optional). If you share videos/feedback or create a contributor profile, we may collect your email or similar contact info to communicate about uploads, credits, and updates.
- Diagnostics & performance. Crash logs, app version, device model, and basic analytics to keep the app reliable (no advertising identifiers).
We do not intentionally capture special category data. Faces and license plates in video are anonymized (blurred) before analysis and external sharing.
3) How we use the data (purposes)
- App functionality. Map road assets/conditions, compute quality and visibility scores, and attribute findings to road segments.
- Surface/roughness detection. Use accelerometer signals (and video) to identify potholes and surface unevenness.
- Safety insights & reporting. Aggregate/pseudonymize findings to produce dashboards, risk scores, and reports for road authorities.
- Communication. Send confirmations and updates about your uploads, credits, or product changes (if you shared contact details).
- Improvement & research. Train and validate AI models for defect detection, visibility scoring, and risk estimation.
- Compliance & security. Detect misuse, fulfill legal obligations, and protect users and systems.
4) Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent: You choose to record and upload; you can withdraw by not uploading or by requesting deletion.
- Legitimate interests: Provide and improve road-safety analytics, ensure app security, and communicate about submitted content.
- Legal obligation: When we must retain/disclose data to comply with law.
5) Anonymization & minimization
Before external use, we automatically blur faces and license plates and minimize data to what is needed for mapping road conditions. We share aggregated/pseudonymized outputs whenever possible.
6) Sharing & recipients
We do not sell personal data. We may share:
- Road authorities & maintenance organizations. Aggregated/pseudonymized findings, maps, and reports to support maintenance and safety actions.
- Service providers (processors). Trusted vendors for cloud storage, AI processing, or analytics—bound by contracts and confidentiality.
- Research/innovation partners. When relevant and under data-processing or data-sharing agreements using anonymized or pseudonymized data.
- Legal requests. Where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
7) International transfers
We aim to process data in the EU/EEA. If transfers outside the EEA occur, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses).
8) Retention
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above.
- Raw uploaded videos: typically up to 12 months (often less) to complete processing/quality checks, then deleted or anonymized.
- Derived/aggregated outputs (e.g., scores, detections, road-segment summaries): retained longer for safety analytics and trend monitoring.
- Contact details: kept while we actively communicate with you or as required by law.
You may request deletion (see Rights below).
9) Your choices & controls
- Share control: You decide which recordings to upload.
- Audio control: Microphone is off by default; you can enable/disable any time.
- Connectivity: Limit uploads to Wi-Fi in Settings.
- Location/sensor permissions: You can disable permissions in the OS; note the app may not function as intended without location or motion data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of uploads by emailing info@inspectigence.com (include device ID/email you used, and upload date/time if possible).
10) Your rights (GDPR/EU)
You can access, correct, delete, or restrict your data; object to processing; and withdraw consent. You also have data portability where applicable. To exercise rights, email info@inspectigence.com. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and data minimization. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and continuously improve safeguards.
12) Children & safe use
InspectiMark is intended for adult users and professional contributors. Do not handle the device while driving; always mount your phone and follow local laws.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We’ll post changes in-app or on our website and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted.
